On Friday, October 31st, the President designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern because of the ongoing and systematic persecution and murder of Christians there. In taking this step he said, “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria… We stand ready, willing and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!”
As the President himself noted, the CPC designation is only one step in solving this crisis. SPC will be working with the Administration to identify additional concrete measures to end the religiously motivated violence.
While the decision was the President’s alone, SPC president Steven Wagner and board vice president Greg Gross, with partners, met with senior State Department officials on Monday of this week to encourage CPC designation and other measures to be taken to help Nigeria end the persecution, as we had met with officials close to Secretary of State Marco Rubio last month.
Thank you, President Trump! And you, our supporters, make our advocacy on behalf of Christians in Nigeria possible, so we profusely thank you as well! Please continue to support our efforts at this critical juncture.
