The Little Angels Orphanage

Patriarch Aphrem of the Syriac Orthodox Church recently acquired the property featured above from commercial developers who stopped development due to the Syrian civil war. Patriarch Aphrem is now converting the property into the “Little Angels” orphanage to provide for some of the more vulnerable and helpless victims of the on-going conflict.

Since the 2011 beginning of the still occurring Syrian civil war, 4 million Syrians have left Syria and 7.6 million have become internally displaced.  With a 2011 population of 22, this means that 50% of the Syrian people have either fled the country or at least their homes.  An estimated 220,000 people have been killed, with more missing or captured.

Children are especially vulnerable in times like this.  If and when the conflict ends, those children who lost their parents will need someone to care for them.  We are happy to partner with Patriarch Aphrem and, with the generosity of the American people, contribute to the well-being of Christ’s children.
