The board of directors of Solidarity with the Persecuted Church has dedicated our work in Nigeria to Joseph Kenneth Casey. Dr. Casey of Cincinnati OH passed in 2022 at the age of 97.

Dr. Casey earned his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Cincinnati – in addition to a doctorate in Philosophy and a masters in Theology. He was a Catholic gentleman of deep faith…a man at once of science and of God. He served as the personal secretary to Thomas Merton at the Our Lady of Gethsemani Abbey while discerning a vocation to the priesthood. God led him to a secular career in aerodynamic engineering and a vocation as the husband of his beloved wife, Virginia Kelly Casey, who predeceased him. The Caseys did not have children, but were an active presence in their community, including the St. Saviour Catholic Church of Cincinnati.
Dr. Casey left his considerable estate to two dozen faith-motivated and Christian organizations, such as the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Susan B. Anthony List (the foremost pro-life organization in the nation). Solidarity with the Persecuted Church is honored to have been deemed by Dr. Casey worthy to be in such company. We pray for the repose of the soul of Dr. Casey, and that he looks approvingly upon the work we do in his name.
