A Sad Weekend for Christians

We awoke this morning to the news of a bombing of a church in Cairo, and of a church collapse in Uyo, Nigeria.  Twenty-five were killed in the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, a Coptic Christian church, when a bomb was detonated during a crowded Sunday service.  And as many as 160 were killed when the Reigners Bible Church collapsed in Nigeria.

There were bombings in Istanbul, Turkey, yesterday which targeted not Christians but soccer spectators and police officers.  And the death toll continues to rise in Aleppo, Syria as government forces press their nearly completed campaign of conquest.

Let us say a special prayer today for our Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering for their faith around the world, and for all victims of violence.
