On April 17, 2026, Solidarity with the Persecuted Church will host a Symposium in Rome to tell the truth about Christian persecution in Nigeria—where more Christians are martyred for their faith than in any other country on Earth. Nigeria also has 3.5 million displaced Christians who have been driven from their homes by Islamic extremists.
Hosted by the U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican, the Symposium will feature distinguished speakers engaged in a frank conversation about the reality in Nigeria, with the goal of focusing the world’s attention on the humanitarian crisis there. We will present exclusive footage of the dire conditions in which Christians are living in IDP camps (“internally displaced persons”). The event will take place during Rome’s America Week to help raise awareness of our cause, especially among Catholics and Christians of other denominations in Europe, Africa, and the United States.
One of our special guests in Rome will be a Catholic priest from Benue State, Nigeria, who will offer an eye-opening account of the massacres he has personally witnessed. Benue is where some of the worst violence against Christians has occurred, including the June 2025 attack in Yelwata, in which jihadists on motorcycles, armed with AK rifles and machetes, murdered more than 200 Christians—women, children, and men.
Solidarity with the Persecuted Church is also providing practical assistance to Christians in Benue State, including access to fresh water and village protection.
Please stay tuned for more details, including the full Symposium agenda. Thank you for your support of our mission. We invite you to consider a donation—whether as a first gift or an additional one. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference.
May Our Lord bless you and your family this Good Friday, and as we await the Resurrection, bring peace to our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria.
