2017 with all its drama, all its storm and stress is gone. At Solidarity with the Persecuted Church we celebrate the hope and promise of the brand-new year given to us by Our Lord and Savior.
Perhaps 2018 can be the year that Iraqi Christians, returning to homes, villages and churches ravaged by Islamic State can rebuild their lives not just with faith and hope, but with tolerance from their neighbors, protection from a committed United States government, and assistance from loving Christians around the world.
Perhaps 2018 can be the year that Boko Haram at last is driven from Nigeria and the faithful Christians rebuilding their churches there can live in peace and tranquility.
Perhaps 2018 will show a continued commitment from President Trump’s administration, under Vice President Pence’s strong leadership, to give meaningful support and assistance to persecuted Christians around the world.
2018 can be a year of great hope. But it also must be a year of great work and effort. SPC enters the new year with optimism, and determination. We believe, with the help of Our Lord, with prayer, and with the continued commitment and generosity of our wonderful donors, that we can make an even greater difference in the lives of persecuted Christians in the Middle East, in Africa, and around the globe.
We are determined to do just that. To achieve great ends. To rebuild houses in Mosul, to rebuild ravaged and desecrated churches, to train misplaced Christians in new careers and create new opportunities. To help the most disadvantaged of our faith in the most important and the most mundane ways…from rebuilding lives to supplying diapers and baby formula.
Solidarity with the Persecuted Church does not work with bureaucracies — governmental or religious. We work directly with parishes, priests and individuals to make a difference. We pledge to celebrate the new year with an even greater commitment, an even greater passion and an even greater effort to help persecuted Christians in need.
